Job Summary
The Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) is seeking a Regional Strategic Planning Coordinator to play a key role in supporting and guiding regional strategic planning efforts across TDH’s seven regions. This position, housed within the Office of Strategic Initiatives (OSI), will be responsible for overseeing regional strategic planning processes, tracking program performance measures, and conducting performance audits to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of services. This individual will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that TDH’s strategic initiatives are data-driven, evidence-based, and aligned with public health principles.
Job Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and metrics for tracking and evaluating regional strategic planning efforts.
- Collaborate with regional offices to collect, analyze, and report on strategic planning data and program performance measures.
- Support data management and analysis efforts related to strategic initiatives and performance reporting.
- Coordinate and participate in special projects, as assigned, that support regional and statewide strategic objectives.
- Develop presentations, guidance materials, and reports to effectively communicate strategic planning progress, goals, and outcomes.
- Conduct performance audits to ensure accountability and effectiveness within the regions.
- Perform administrative tasks as required to support program needs.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently while managing multiple projects.
- Serve as a liaison between internal departments, external partners, and regional offices to support the seamless execution of projects and programs.
- Serve as additional capacity to the Director of Strategic Operations
- Develop and maintain a Regional Community of Practice
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, social sciences, statistics, health informatics, or related fields; a Master of Public Health or graduate degree in a quantitative field is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with strategic planning processes and public health principles, including a commitment to health equity and evidence-based practice.
- Experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating public health programs.
- Proficient in data analysis and performance management, with the ability to interpret and communicate data effectively.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Experience with computer software applications, including Microsoft PowerApps, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Some in-state travel is required.
- This is a mid-level role designed for professionals with a foundational background in public health and strategic planning.

- This is a hybrid role, with an expectation of two in-office days per week.
