FiftyForward has an excellent opportunity for a Program Coordinator in our Brentwood location. This is a full-time position with regular weekday hours, Monday – Friday.
The Program Coordinator assists in the overall operation of the FiftyForward Martin Center with emphasis on planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating center programs and activities that are educational, social, and recreational and encourage total health well-being, and community involvement.
Job Responsibilities
What you’ll do:
- In alignment with the agency mission, plans, develops, promotes, implements, and evaluates the highest quality, best practice center programs and activities. Includes a variety of courses, trips, presentations, activities, workshops, and special events based on the needs and requests of each center. The Center Director will provide guidance and direction on program planning.
- Works closely with the Martin Center Director in planning and executing overall Center goals.
- Works with Martin Center advisory councils and council committees as requested by the Center Director.
- In coordination with supervisor, prepares, maintains, and makes available monthly calendar and newsletter. Works closely with the agency programming committee, Director, and other staff members in implementing the event calendar.
- Promotes activities through Membership Works (MW) and My Senior Center (MSC). Creates, updates and maintains event sign-ups in MW. Updates the MySenior Center Calendar with all assignments on a weekly basis. Communicates about activities via information boards, social media, constant contact emails, and other means.
- Prepares center for programs, activities, and special events.
- Actively recruits, screens, interviews, engages, and evaluates instructors, group facilitators, and presenters in conjunction with agency programming committee responsibilities and in consultation with the Center Director. Completes and manages necessary paperwork and logistics.
- Maintains an active corps of Center volunteers who are selected, trained, and recognized in compliance with agency policies and procedures.
- In alignment with agency programming committee responsibilities, networks with other agencies and services to collaborate on programs and services.
- Schedules and/or drives agency vehicles as needed for programming and special events.
- Works in cooperation with the Center Director to represent FiftyForward in the community and to promote the center throughout the service area.
- Attends and participates in meetings related to the activity of the center and of FiftyForward as requested.
- Assists with the oversight of Center operations in the absence of the Center Director.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or two years of college coursework in social services, recreation, or a related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 1 -3 years experience in program planning, development, implementation, and evaluation. Prefer experience working with active older adults and volunteers.
- CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to be trained; maintain knowledge of AED (defibrillator); ServSafe certification or willingness to be trained.
- A valid TN driver’s license, good motor vehicle record, appropriate automobile insurance, and reliable transportation.
- Promote and uphold FiftyForward’s mission of supporting, championing, and enhancing life for those 50 and older.
