ABOUT

The Senior Renaissance Center (SRC) is located in Sylvan Park at the Cohn Learning Center. We are dedicated to providing free activities for older adults in Davidson County, aimed at reducing isolation, enhancing quality of life, and fostering personal growth as individuals age. 

Located in Sylvan Park, at the Cohn Learning Center, SRC is a welcoming space to connect, learn, and thrive through a variety of programs including fitness, arts, technology aid, and social activities. Our vision is to be a leading community resource where older adults feel valued and find opportunities to grow and contribute.

DESCRIPTION

The Program Coordinator facilitates and oversees daily activities and special programs at SRC two days a week. This role reports to the SRC Program Director, who establishes the overall goals and initiatives of the Center. Working closely with the Program Manager and Program Director, the Program Coordinator assists with coordinating programs for SRC and will focus on outreach to the broader community.

Job Responsibilities

The Program Coordinator will staff two shifts per week during hours of operation. Shift days will be selected in collaboration with SRC leadership in order to create a schedule to cover hours of operation. Until otherwise amended permanently or for coverage, the Program Coordinator will be in person on Mondays & Thursdays. 

OPERATIONS

  • Carry out daily operation tasks, facilitate and/or oversee planned activities and special programs:
  •  8:30 AM –  9:00 AM Implement Opening Center Protocol 
  •  9:00 AM – 12:30 PM Facilitate Daily Activity/ies 
  • 11:00 AM – 11:30 AM Serve Lunch (Pre-packaged individual Meals) 
  • 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM Implement Closing Protocol
  • Support the meal program by attaining participant signatures and submitting weekly meal sheets and monthly volunteer hours.
  • Carry out weekly cleaning and organizing of high-traffic areas (kitchen, closets/storage, frequently used surfaces and tables, program calendars, and event promotion materials).

OUTREACH

  • Identify and forge partnerships/connections with people, groups, and organizations serving SRC’s target audience.
  • Create, print, and deliver event promotion materials to community partners. 
  • Provide photos and videos of participants and of programs to be posted on social media.
  • Carry out other in-person or remote outreach activities as assigned. 

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT

  • Brainstorm, plan, and/or coordinate programs alongside Program Manager and Program Director.
  • Meet and correspond with SRC Program Manager and Program Director to support program scheduling and outreach efforts. 

Qualifications

An ideal candidate should be organized, reliable, detail-oriented, and a self-starter! Prior experience doing community outreach and working with seniors is preferred.

The Senior Renaissance Center is closed for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (and the day after), and the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day. All part-time employees receive one week of paid time off.
