Job Summary
Consistent with the Christian mission and vision of the YMCA of Middle TN, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the Sr. Program Director and Preschool Director, in cooperation with other YMCA staff, consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Preschool Coordinator is responsible for developing, planning, and implementing quality programming and support to the Director. The Coordinator’s duties include supervising staff and curriculum implementation in the Infant/Toddler or Preschool classrooms. The Coordinator is responsible for providing a developmentally appropriate program that ensures the participants’ safety and fosters children’s social/emotional, physical, and mental growth. Job Responsibilities
- Model the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
- Ensure the safety of all children while meeting the individual needs of children
- Supervision of staff including schedules, staff coverage, and time cards
- Supervision of lead teachers’ daily record keeping e.g., CACFP, attendance, child’s daily reports
- Assist in training and development of staff; maintain individual training plan for individual staff that meets DHS 3-Star standards
- Responsible for ensuring effective and positive parent communications; develop monthly calendars and newsletters for parents
- Purchase and maintain supplies and current inventory within budgeted guidelines
- Attend all staff meetings and in-service training as required by the program staff
- Work directly with the Preschool Director in developing programming, planning and overseeing daily activities, scheduling, lesson plans, and general program operations
- Responsible for creating, purchasing, and distributing monthly calendars and food inventory
- Schedule enrollment tours and assist with the processing of enrollment packets
- Organize and maintain enrollment records and waiting lists
- Ability to serve as sub staff, breaker, and/or floater as needed
- Assist in the hiring and onboarding of all new staff; this will include the processing of hiring packets, scheduling of interviews, and posting of job vacancies
- Provide continuous support to the Director in building parent relationships, staff morale, and community partnerships
- Ability to serve as a co-leader in the Annual Giving Campaign
- Know, understand, train, and execute all program policies and emergency procedures associated with the program
- Assist with internal and external marketing of the Preschool
- Ensure safety and quality at all times
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions

- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software programs, as well as the ability to use most office equipment, is required
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
- Minimum 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent and Tennessee Early Childhood Training Alliance (TECTA) certificate for completing thirty hours of orientation training, or the equivalent as recognized by the Department and four years of experience in child development or related experience; OR
- Two years of college (30 hours of which shall be in business or management, child or youth development, early childhood education, or related field) and two years of experience in a group setting; OR
- Four-year degree and one year of full-time (paid or unpaid) experience in a group setting
- Four years of child development experience or related experience required
