Job Summary
The Nurturing Parenting Facilitator (Facilitator) – Tennessee Valley facilitates group parenting education sessions through evidence-informed and incentive-based Nurturing Parenting curriculum. The Facilitator is also responsible for generating referrals for Nurture the Next programs through awareness in the community. This is a part-time position serving the Chattanooga and surrounding counties area.
Job Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate the Nurturing Parenting program in group settings
- Understand Nurturing Parenting CBCAP Grant Contract requirements and meet specified outcomes each quarter
- Build relationships with agencies within the service area that have an interest in parenting classes for their clients (e.g. churches, community centers, childcare facilities, etc.).
- The Tennessee Valley service area includes the following counties: Bledsoe, Rhea, Meigs, McMinn, Sequatchie, Marion, Hamilton, Bradley, and Polk
- Submit monthly, quarterly, and yearly data to ensure compliance with contract requirements
- Attend initial and ongoing trainings and meetings as recommended by the supervisor
- Maintain fidelity of the Nurturing Parenting program by collecting and inputting all funder-required data via our internal tracking system, Salesforce
- Provide community and statewide awareness about Nurture the Next’s programs
- Respect and maintain confidential information in all situations
- Represent the agency at community, civic, or other public functions
- Mentor interns and allow shadow visits when appropriate and with consent from families
- Follow organizational policies
- Participate in agency ad-hoc committees as appropriate and needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Knowledge of healthy child growth/development and the dynamics of parent-child relationships
- Ability to relate to families from a strengths-based model even in chaotic family situations
- Ability to approach families from a family-centered service model approach
- Demonstrate motivation and ability to learn and provide basic supportive skills
- Knowledgeable about community resources
- Ability to establish and maintain personal/programmatic boundaries
- Strong interpersonal, communication, public speaking, and training skills
- Ability to advocate for nurturing, non-violent discipline of children
- Basic understanding of primary prevention
- Ability to self-direct daily work tasks and practice effective time management
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate as part of a team
- Microsoft Office, email, internet; Must be able to meet documentation requirements
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field; equivalent of one year of experience working with individuals in a group or home-based setting or experience advocating for children; flexible availability; experience working with culturally diverse communities and families.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to position themselves in a sitting position, talk, and/or hear (with or without aide). The employee is regularly required to remain stationary, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to keyboard and enter data at a computer. The employee is frequently required to operate a motor vehicle, move throughout homes or buildings, and may be required to climb stairs in family homes and in a variety of community-based and home settings. The employee must learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow, and communicate with program participants and community partners. FSS must have the ability to complete tasks with speed in situations that ensure the safety of children. Employees must move supplies and equipment up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, the ability to adjust focus, and operate a vehicle safely. The employee must have access to reliable transportation. Employees are required daily to remain alert and engaged to safely operate vehicles and ensure the safety of small children. The work environment includes indoor office environments or comparable spaces, families’ homes, and community spaces, with frequent exposure to outdoor weather when traveling to home visits and meetings. The noise level varies by sites, home visits, and meetings.
