Job Summary

As Blue Monarch’s Occupational Therapist, you will provide individual and group occupation-based therapy services to resident children (ages 12 and under) and their mothers, contribute to program development for children’s services, advocate for children’s developmental and educational needs, and support the therapeutic environment. With the groundbreaking of the new 24,000 sq. ft. multipurpose building, Blue Monarch is preparing to expand its services, programming, and residential capacity in the near future, and the occupational therapist would play a key role. We are offering an opportunity to join a small, but focused team that is dedicated to serving women and children who are seeking a healthier lifestyle, free from abuse and addiction.

Job Responsibilities

• Expand and enhance existing children’s programming to include more rigorous on-site intake screening & assessments, therapeutic interventions, and environmental modifications of the therapeutic and home environments as Blue Monarch expands its spaces and residential capacity
• Plan and implement family-centered, trauma-informed occupation-based therapy services (including evaluations, interventions, and outcome analyses) to both individual children and groups with an emphasis on self-regulation skills, positive behavior supports, and promoting function in daily routines
• Plan and implement parenting education classes and workshops to promote co-regulation, healthy routines, and occupational performance in both individual and group contexts among mothers with various custody arrangements as they seek family reunification
• Document all therapeutic encounters (opportunity to develop own notes system)
• Engage in grant writing to support funding of necessary materials, equipment, personnel, and other resources
• Communicate regularly with interdisciplinary teams about families’ progress and needs
• Serve as an advocate and liaison for children’s childcare and school placement, including collaborating with school teachers
• Coordinate with outside therapists, doctors, and other healthcare professionals
• Develop, implement, and monitor quarterly treatment plans for each resident
• Maintain communication with program staff regarding resident issues and behavior, while respecting the boundaries of privacy and professional ethics
• Assist program staff with transportation and oversight for offsite events with residents and children, promoting and supporting community participation and integration
• Provide direct support for the Director of Parenting and Children’s Services
• Assist in the reunification of women with their children
• Provide therapeutic training for residents and staff
• Participate in equine activities for children
• Attend all mandatory Blue Monarch events

Qualifications

• Master’s or doctorate in occupational therapy from an ACOTE-accredited academic institution
• Current OT licensure in the state of Tennessee
• Required Experience: Experience with pediatrics
• Preferred Experience: Former practice or interest in rural, psychosocial, mental health, or community-based practice areas
• Willingness to engage in advocacy, program development, and grant writing
• Passionate about working with a Christ-centered non-profit
• Open to working in an emerging practice setting within the field of occupational therapy
• Strong adaptability, flexibility, and creativity to meet the continuously evolving needs of this dynamic population
• Compassionate and servant-hearted nature
