Job Summary
The Junior Vice President (JVP) is a vital member of the Board of Directors, supporting the senior leadership team in executing the organization’s mission and strategic goals. The JVP will work closely with the President, Vice President, and other board members to provide leadership, oversight, and direction for the nonprofit’s initiatives and operations.
Job Responsibilities
- Leadership Support: Assist the President and Vice President in leading board meetings, setting agendas, and ensuring effective governance practices.
- Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic plan, ensuring alignment with the mission and vision.
- Program Oversight: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services, providing recommendations for improvement.
- Fundraising and Development: Support fundraising efforts, including donor engagement, grant writing, and event planning.
- Community Engagement: Represent the organization at community events, building relationships with stakeholders, partners, and donors.
- Financial Management: Collaborate with the Treasurer and finance committee to ensure sound financial practices and sustainability.
- Policy Development: Assist in the creation and review of organizational policies and procedures.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to other board members and volunteers, fostering a collaborative and supportive board culture
Time Commitment:
- Attend quarterly board meetings and committee meetings.
- Approximately 10-15 hours per month for leadership and oversight tasks.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a nonprofit or similar organization.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit governance and best practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people.
- Passion for the mission and values of the organization.
- Experience in fundraising, strategic planning, or program management is a plus.
