We are looking to hire a full-time Intake Coordinator and Community Navigator to handle incoming inquiries from the clients who inspire us and drive the work that we do. If you enjoy talking to people and are highly organized and self-motivated, then this could be the ideal job for you. This position is perfect for recent graduates, particularly if your degree is in social work or a related field, or you are looking to gain real-life experience in the field of social justice and public health law.  

Job Responsibilities

The primary role of the Intake Coordinator and Community Navigator is to support the casework team by conducting initial client interviews, developing partnerships with other nonprofits, and connecting clients to services in the community. You will report to our Casework Supervisor. In this position, you  are responsible for:  

  • Taking calls and reviewing intake forms to screen potential clients who need legal assistance  navigating nutrition or healthcare safety net programs;  
  • Conduct initial interviews of walk-in clients who need services; 
  • Organizing and maintaining our resource database and walk-in resource center;
  • Documenting detailed information about a client’s case in our Salesforce database
  • Other duties as assigned by the Casework Supervisor.  

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;  
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities;  
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;  
  • Proficiency in using computer software and databases;  
  • Passion for social justice and helping vulnerable populations.  
  • Fluent in Spanish or experienced in the use of Language Line

Benefits

The compensation for this position is $44,000-$47,500 annually based on 40 hours per week. TJC also  offers employees the following benefits:

  • 403(b) retirement plan – immediately eligible for employee-elected deferrals. Eligibility for employer discretionary contributions starting after 12 months of continuous employment.  Subject to board approval, employer discretionary contribution is usually 5% of the annual  salary per year, with no matching requirement;  
  • PTO and Sick time
