Job Summary
Willow Oak is a 17-year-old organization that provides experiences in the arts and humanities. As Executive Director you will promote the arts and humanities in the region around Springfield and Robertson County, Tennessee. This position includes supervision of administration, fundraising, and marketing efforts. The full-time position includes some work in the evenings and weekends as demanded by events and programs. Job Responsibilities
Advocacy
- Act as the public face of the organization
- Build and maintain corporate, government, and individual donor relationships
- Collaborate with other arts organizations in the region as needed
Marketing and Communications
- Supervise the unique look, tone, and voice of the Willow Oak brand in all communications
- Seek opportunities to link the Willow Oak brand with corporate supporters
- Pursue regional media prospects to communicate Willow Oak’s mission
Fundraising
- Work with part-time development director to seek new funding sources regionally for Willow Oak
- Build and maintain positive relationships with, donors, sponsors, and supporters
- Develop new methods to attract and retain supporters
Administration and Finance
- Manage financial reporting in conjunction with the treasurer
- Report monthly to the Board the agency activity, programs, and financial position
- Track and report agency trends in donor, volunteer, and customer activity
- Hire and supervise staff positions
Leadership and Strategy
- Develop a capital campaign strategy with the Board of Directors
- With Board involvement direct facility renovations
- Participate in the planning and execution of Willow Oak events, engaging with the Board and volunteers
- Understand and communicate trends in nonprofit operations to the Board
Qualifications
- Understand and appreciate Willow Oak’s mission and communicate it effectively and persuasively
- Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Previous experience in nonprofit management
- Previous experience in event planning and management
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Minimal travel and some weekend work is to be expected
- A college degree is preferred
Additional Information
Benefits
This policy provides for one week of paid vacation after one year of service. After three years of service, two weeks of vacation are accrued. Personal days will be accrued 1 hour weekly for 50 weeks annually. This will yield 50 hours (6.25 days) annually of personal time. Personal days of up to 40 hours annually may be rolled over until the next year. Any hours beyond 40 not used in that calendar year will expire. Personal day use must be approved by the Executive Director. A new associate must have 90 days of service before being eligible under this policy.
In addition, the following are paid holidays* will be added under the new policy. If a holiday falls on Saturday it will be observed on Friday and if it occurs on Sunday it will be observed on Monday.
- Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. (Third Monday in January)
- Good Friday
- Memorial Day (Last Monday in May)
- Independence Day (July 4)
- Labor Day (First Monday in September)
- Veterans Day (November 11)
- Thanksgiving Day and the day after (Fourth Thursday and Friday in November)
- Christmas Eve
- The week between Christmas and New Year’s Day (December 25th through January 1st)
- *Vacation/holiday will be paid at the rate of usual time worked.
