Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for the welfare, safety, and health of the children in all activities.
- Understand the developmental growth and needs of the children in your care.
- Plan and post a weekly theme unit, daily lesson plans, and classroom environment following the curriculum guide and developmental chart meeting the needs of each child.
- Read, understand, and follow all TDHS licensing standards and NAEYC accreditation criteria as it pertains to the classroom and children in your care.
- Establish and maintain professional and positive communication with parent(s)/ guardian(s) regarding the children’s development and daily activities.
- Schedule a conference 3 times per year with each child’s parent/guardian to discuss the child’s development assessments, goals, and curriculum.
- Respect the sensitive nature of working with children and their families and maintain confidentiality.
- Update parents daily (diapering, meals, activities, center activities/programs, and areas of concern as needed)
- Responsible for the daily cleanliness and sanitary condition of the room.
- Submit lesson plans, reports, assessments, children’s goals, attendance, food counts, records, and shopping lists timely and accurate.
- Assist with special events and projects for the overall welfare of the children at MCC.
- Assist with equipment inventory and maintenance.
- Attend and participate in all Center meetings and events.
- Complete 18 hours of professional development training per year.
- Supervise substitutes and volunteers in the classroom and report any concerns to the Program Manager.
- Responsible for children’s assessments, goal development, and implementing children’s goals into lesson plans and the environment.
- Responsible for mealtime activities with the small group of children assigned. You must sit and eat with the children.
- Contribute to the overall goodwill of the Center as it relates to volunteers, accrediting and funding donors, board, employee, and family relations, etc. to present a positive community image effectively.
- Arrive at work on time and ready to start your workday.
- Perform other related duties according to the needs of the center.
Qualifications
Education Required: High school diploma CDA credential preferred
Experience required: One year of experience working with children in a classroom environment preferably a high-quality care setting.
Abilities Required: Abilities to make independent decisions and apply established procedures to individual and specific situations pertaining to children in a non-biased manner. Must be energetic and demonstrate a genuine love for children. Must continue ongoing training in developmentally appropriate practices for Preschool and Toddler children.
