Job Summary

We Are Building Lives is an organization dedicated to the service of veterans here in the Middle Tennessee area.  We assist veterans who are homeless or are facing the threat of homelessness by providing transitional housing and rental/mortgage/utility assistance to veterans who may be facing a housing crisis.  We are a well-established organization that has been serving Middle Tennessee for 17 years.  The Role of the Director of Marketing and Development is to help grow the organization’s footprint in the digital and social media world and promote the organisation to as broad of an audiene as possible.  The Director will also be responsible for donor relations, fundraising events, and growing our sponsorships with local and national businesses.  

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manage and create graphic design for all print materials and for all events.
  • Work with our Website manager to make sure all events and sites are updated.
  • Engage with the existing donor base and develop a “thoughtful” system of expressing gratitude for their donations.
  • Seek out and develop monthly donors
  • When called upon be ready to give presentations to small or large audiences.
  • Maintain all donor contacts for quick and easy access
  • Led teams of volunteers during fundraising events.
  • Attend all board meetings
  • Stay in contact with donors and sponsors especially in the arena of marketing (Yall 106.7 is a marketing partner).
  • Work closely with the Executive Director.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all marketing efforts
  • Lead and manage all fundraising efforts (Events, Social media, Campaigns, etc)
  • Seek out new donors/sponsors and manage existing donors and sponsors.
  • Meet or exceed fundraising goals set by the Executive Director

Qualifications

  • First and foremost your passion must align with the organization to “leave no veteran behind.”
  • College degree in marketing/Business or nonprofit management or past work experience.
  • Tech savvy skills such as Graphic Design, Social media management, Wix Website Platform, Google Suite
  • High Level of Integrity
  • Public speaking when needed
  • The ability to develop a donor base and to make each donor no matter the level of giving meaningful and special.

We are an organization that is decentralized.  This is a work-from-home position.  We currently offer no health insurance benefits but hope to do so in the future.
