Job Summary

Nashville International Center for Empowerment (NICE), established in 2005, is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) community-based organization dedicated to ensuring refugees and immigrants achieve their full potential now and for generations to come.

 The Curriculum and Instruction Coordinator will develop and improve learning options for English Language Learners. The Curriculum and Instruction Coordinator will report to the Adult Education Manager This is a full-time, 40 hours a week position.

Job Responsibilities

General Responsibilities:

  • Manages Site Coordinators & instructors
  • Leads a weekly instructional team meeting to communicate student success, syllabi, and program updates
  • Develops Curriculum and creates syllabi that incorporate the latest ESL pedagogy
  • Assists in student registration, orientation, and testing
  • Leads an ESL class
  • Coordinates NICE’s largest evening ESL site
  • Manages student attendance incentives for the Adult Education program
  • Works closely with Volunteer Coordinator to offer quarterly training to part-time instructors and volunteers
  • Fosters existing relationships with Adult Education partners
  • Obtains regular feedback from students regarding program operations, progress towards personal goals, and recommendations for internal advancement and external referrals

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Ability to work with and lead a diverse team
  • Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of adult learners
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, manage, and complete tasks on a deadline
  • Ability to remain flexible and responsive to evolving program needs
  • High levels of motivation, self-reliance, and independence
  • Experience in lesson planning
  • Familiarity with Zoom, Microsoft Excel, information databases, the internet, and email
  • Reliable transportation
  • Availability from 6-8 PM Tuesdays, Thursdays
  • Must hold a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Certification to teach English Language Learners includes a valid TN teaching license TESOL, TESL, or TEFL certificate from a qualifying agency OR 4 years equivalent work experience. 
  • Minimum 1-year experience in an educational setting
  • Experience in English Language instruction preferred
  • Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply

Salary & Benefits:

  • Job Type: FULL time
  • Salary Range: $39,000-45,000/year
