Job Summary
Immediate Opening
Purpose: Partner with the CFO to ensure that the school’s accounting and business functions operate in a timely and professional manner. This will be accomplished by serving as a resource to ensure the school’s budget and financial plans are implemented and executed successfully by preparing and maintaining accounting records for the school and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.
Job Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate General Ledger and Sub Ledgers for all funds in accordance with GAAP and USN operating policies and procedures
- Prepare/Review/Approve Payroll, Cash Disbursements and Fixed Assets
- Prepare/Review/Approve month-end & fiscal year-end close procedures including journal entries, account reconciliations, external/internal financial reporting, and tax filings
- Support completion of Annual Audit by external accounting firm and Form 990, preparing & providing supporting documentation as requested/necessary & ensuring final reports tie to internal school accounting records
- Prepare monthly internal budget reports for all budget managers, identifying potential budget issues for CFO/Director/Budget Manager
- Prepare/Review/File/Maintain all reports/forms as required by the Federal/State Government including 990, 5500,941, W-3, W-2s, 1096, 1099s, Sales Tax, Unemployment, Business Licenses, State and Local Property Tax, and others as identified
- Supply/Prepare/Analyze Statistical Data for Organizations like INDEX, NAIS & MISBO
- Coordinate/Prepare/Report as necessary Risk Management for the School including renewals, claims, definition of coverage, and other documents as needed in conjunction with Insurance Agents, Providers, and Carriers
- Support day-to-day operations of Business Office including A/P, A/R & Cash Receipts (including Development Office Gifts being properly recorded in school accounting records & reconciliation of same with Development Office on a regular basis), Payroll, HR, Budget, USNA & General school affairs as well as greeting visitors in office, covering for associates away from desk or out of office
- Perform other duties as determined by the CFO and, in some cases, the Director
Qualifications
- Educations: B. S. (minimum) with emphasis in Business Administration and Accounting
- Experience: Prior work in the Accounting Department of business (Not-for-Profit experience would be helpful, but not required)
