Job Summary

The New Beginnings Center (TNBC) is a Nashville-based non-profit whose mission is to improve the health and well-being of women through exercise, nutrition education, and lifestyle coaching. We serve all women regardless of age, income, or background as we target the obesity epidemic in Nashville and strive to reduce the risk of preventable diseases related to obesity. The ideal candidate will have a passion for fitness, excellent communication skills, and the ability to motivate and inspire clients to reach their full potential. 

The New Beginnings Center’s coach is responsible for coaching at the main facility and/or satellite locations in a professional and caring manner. Level 1 and Satellite classes meet twice per week for one-hour sessions over a 12–week period.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Arrive fifteen minutes prior to class set up equipment before class and stay after for cleaning and breakdown.
  • Complete coach training modules, workshops, reading materials, tests, etc. 
  • Implement appropriate workout programs based on the TNBC program
  • Instruct clients on proper exercise technique and form to ensure safe and effective workouts. 
  • Teach the New Beginnings nutrition and life coaching curriculum (training and all materials are provided by TNBC)  
  • Provide guidance on nutrition and lifestyle choices to support clients’ overall health and fitness goals.
  • Communicate with clients by email, text, or phone as appropriate (i.e., follow up after missed class)
  • Keep accurate records of clients’ progress and sessions by providing a monthly data update on all women currently exercising at the main facility or satellite locations which includes attendance, Inbody data, medication dosages decreased or eliminated, and other milestones.
  • Routinely follow up and check in with those who have graduated from the New Beginnings program and report to the Program Lead. 
  • Maintain a clean and safe workout environment, ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained and sanitized.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned by the CEO.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Qualified applicants will hold a current Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) certification (NSCA, ACSM, ISSA, or NASM)
  • 1 year or more experience preferred
  • Group training experience a plus; ability to connect with a wide range of personalities
  • Positive, motivating, and effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience working with clients who are obese and/or have mobility issues is a plus
