Job Summary
Micah Children’s Academy is searching for an Assistant Director who is eager to leave their mark on the lives of our students, their families, and our community. This individual should be a dynamic collaborator and leader with a background in early childhood education. A strong preference will be given to individuals who have management experience.
This is a full-time salaried position, with benefits including health insurance, paid holidays, and paid time off.
We joyfully serve up to 84 children aged 6 weeks through Pre-K in our full-day early learning center, located in the education wing of Congregation Micah. Congregation Micah is a vibrant reform synagogue, offering creative and diverse ways to celebrate Jewish life using the rich beliefs and practices of modern Reform Judaism as its foundation and proudly welcomes students and families of all faiths. Our students experience a Jewish values-based curriculum reflecting a Reggio Emilia style that cultivates a love for learning and reflects the development of the whole child. We have a thriving intergenerational and diverse community committed to growing the intellectual curiosity and moral consciousness of students and families based on Jewish values.
Job Responsibilities
The Assistant Director will assist the Director in operating our early childhood education center, enhancing school programming, developing curriculum, and supervising the professional development of our educators. A qualified candidate should have a professional approach to all work, and bring the following skills and experiences to this position:
- 3 – 5 years of direct professional experience in an early childhood setting
- Strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practices
- Collaborative growth mindset and problem-solving tenacity
- Foster positive, constructive, and professional relationships with educators, parents, and children
- Strong knowledge and understanding of licensing and accreditation rules and regulations
- Ability to multitask and make decisions effectively
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Mentoring and supervising educators, providing coaching, training, and professional development opportunities
- Support the development and implementation of high-quality educational curriculum and activities
- Fill in for the Director in their absence
- Support our school’s vision and mission
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education or related field of study or at least 3 years of professional leadership experience in an early childhood education program
- Must clear full background check
- Must pass physical as mandated by state regulations
