Job Summary
This position is an advanced practitioner of substance use treatment services in a Permanent Supportive Housing program that offers both Housing First and Sober Living options. The Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (LADAC) will serve Park Center members on a recovery-oriented, housing-focused intensive case management (ICM) team.
Job Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Value cultural competence and diversity
- Collaborate with staff, members, and the community to gain the perspectives of others having diverse opinions, abilities, values, beliefs, perspectives, and ethnic or cultural backgrounds.
- Take deliberate steps to increase their own cultural competency by attending trainings, events, discussions, workshops, etc.
Member Support Duties:
- Engage members in their homes and in office locations utilizing a trauma lens and cultural humility to quickly establish trust and build rapport.
- Assess member strengths, needs, abilities, preferences, and barriers to develop a plan to address substance use in a manner consistent with the member’s stage of change, risk factors, etc.
- Complete evidence-based assessment tools (e.g., ASAM Criteria) to supplement assessment data and determine the most clinically appropriate recommendations.
- Using a strengths-based, person-centered approach, provide recovery-oriented substance use support including individual and group substance use counseling, referrals to residential treatment programs, etc.
- Partner with members to help them achieve goals that are specifically centered around substance use and their definition of recovery.
- Support PSH members by offering holistic recovery support that addresses wellness of both mind and body.
- Plan and lead recovery-focused groups (e.g., support, educational, etc.) for the PSH program.
- Assist PSH members with developing interpersonal skills to connect with members of the community and expand their natural support system.
- Complete, maintain, and review documentation for agency and funding requirements within all designated timeframes.
- Develop and provide resources to members based on recovery services.
Public/Staff Relations:
- Communicate with internal and external partners to coordinate care and advocate for member needs.
- Communicate regularly with the Permanent Supportive Housing team to meet resident needs.
- Build rapport and connections with community service providers to provide wrap-around support and care to members in recovery.
- Develop effective working relationships with human services organizations.
Program Development:
- Assist with developing the recovery housing program including the service model, procedures, documents, program goals, and performance metrics.
- Research and recommend recovery housing training, grants, and other resources for program development.
- Create and update departmental procedures in collaboration with PSH leadership.
- Assist with planning and organizing recovery group meetings at PSH locations.
- Coordinate and meet with other programs and industry leaders for research and development.
Other duties as a member of the Permanent Supportive Housing team:
- Attend all staff and supervision meetings.
- Assist with program events and outings.
- Participate in on-call rotation.
- Maintain schedule flexibility in the event of after-hours responsibilities.
- Maintain good attendance and inform supervisor in advance of time off.
- Complete Relias Learning courses by the deadline.
- Follow all Personnel Policies and uphold Park Center’s Code of Ethics.
- Perform all other duties assigned.
DIRECT REPORTS
- This position has no direct reports.
SCHEDULE
- Monday – Friday 8:30 to 4:30
WORK LOCATION
- Hybrid: fieldwork in Nashville, TN, shared office space, remote office capability
Qualifications
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have at least 5 years’ experience working in a human services field, mental health, substance use, and or supportive housing preferred.
- Obtained LADAC license or be eligible to obtain license within 90 days of hire.
- Able to demonstrate strong recovery support competencies and ethical behaviors.
- Must have proven written and verbal communication skills and computer literacy.
- A bachelor’s degree in a human services field is required.
- Must have a valid Tennessee Driver’s License.
- Must be able to show proof of personal automobile insurance.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Modified remote work available for this position, shared workstation in the office.
- Able to operate with many distractions.
- Routine office environment.
- Able/willing to use a vehicle to transport members.
- Able/willing to operate a large van/bus to transport clients.

- The ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form.
