DEI 101: Back to Basics (In-Person)

Facilitator: Aimee Sadler

Our world is more diverse than ever, and so are those we work with. To be successful, DEI strategies require the ongoing support of the entire organization. We have to remember that it is not the responsibility of underrepresented groups to organize their own recognition. Although some organizations have made progress with DEI initiatives, many are still struggling.

Join us for an enlightening workshop led by Manager of Community and Collective Impact, Amiee Sadler, MSW. In this foundational session, participants will explore the core principles and practices of diversity, equity, and inclusion, gaining essential knowledge and skills to foster inclusive environments in their personal and professional lives.

Throughout the workshop, participants will:

  • Gain a deeper understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, including the historical context, systemic barriers, and intersectionality.
  • Explore the impact of implicit bias, privilege, and microaggressions on individuals and communities, and learn strategies for mitigating their effects.
  • Examine the importance of creating inclusive spaces where all individuals feel valued, respected, and empowered to fully participate.
  • Identify concrete steps and best practices for promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within their organizations, communities, and personal spheres of influence.
  • Engage in interactive discussions, activities, and case studies to apply learning to real-world scenarios and develop action plans for advancing DEI goals.

Amiee Sadler brings a wealth of experience to this workshop, with a passion for promoting social justice and empowering individuals and organizations to embrace diversity and equity. With a focus on education, reflection, and action, Amiee will guide participants through an engaging exploration of DEI concepts and their practical applications.
