AGENCY DESCRIPTION:
AncoraTN (ATN), formerly End Slavery Tennessee, works tirelessly to nurture survivor healing and strategically combat human trafficking in Middle Tennessee. We seek to break cycles of exploitation and support survivors of human trafficking as they heal from their traumas—offering long-term, comprehensive aftercare services. Through training communities and professionals, advocating for legal changes, and implementing prevention programming, AncoraTN works to stop human trafficking before it ever begins.
AncoraTN was founded in 2012 as a faith-based, not-for-profit organization for the purpose of community awareness and education. REPORTS TO: Director of Development and External Relations
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Donor Engagement Manager leads the development and execution of a comprehensive donor engagement strategy that recognizes and stewards gifts of $5,000 to $100,000. This includes annual campaigns (Giving Tuesday, AncoraTN’s anniversary campaign, Year End, etc.), launching a donor society, and enhancing collaborative communication efforts to reengage lapsed donors, and upgrade and retain annual giving donors.
This role involves strategizing and coordinating donor engagement initiatives that align with AncoraTN’s brand and messaging and includes individuals, small businesses, corporate, faith-based, and foundation giving. This key role is part of an invigorated initiative to strengthen AncoraTN’s donor pipeline by thinking creatively, working flexibly, and executing activities with a sense of urgency to deepen supporter engagement and achieve ambitious fundraising goals.
Job Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Development
- Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive donor engagement strategy that recognizes and stewards gifts from $5,000 to $100,000.
- Strategize and coordinate donor engagement initiatives that align with AncoraTN’s brand and messaging and achieve fundraising goals.
- Develop a new giving society, including web content, written pieces, templates, and personalized outreach plans.
- Identify and execute creative outreach strategies and plans that engage donors through communications and content, moving beyond transactional interactions.
Donor Engagement and Stewardship
- Develop messaging and touchpoints, including acknowledgments, impact communications, individual outreach, and experience activities.
- Execute outreach and stewardship plans, including prospect acquisition mailings and stewardship packages for major donors and prospects.
- Identify and utilize compelling “why” stories from donors and share them across the department to enrich communications, and drive donor cultivation, stewardship, and recognition.
- Resolve donor concerns in person, over the phone, and via email with appropriate escalation as needed.
Campaign Management and Execution
- Develop and execute annual campaigns (Giving Tuesday, Year End, Anniversary Campaign, Donor Society).
- Work flexibly across teams to develop and execute multifaceted campaigns to engage existing and new donors.
- Enhance collaborative communication efforts to reengage lapsed donors and upgrade and retain annual giving donors.
Reporting and Data Management
- Develop reports that provide data-driven insights for departmental goals.
- Create and implement ongoing reporting practices to track progress and help refine donor engagement messaging strategies.
- Maintain updates and leverage impact dashboards to track and articulate the impact of annual giving.
- Record data in the CRM accurately.
Collaboration and Support
- Support the Director of Development and External Relations with data insights and reporting.
- Work collaboratively with the Development team to execute outreach and stewardship plans.
- Participate in the financial month-end close process.
- Support frontline fundraising efforts.
Donor Recognition and Special Initiatives
- Engage donors who contribute $5,000 to $100,000 through personalized outreach.
- Develop content and strategies for a new giving society.
- Coordinate and assist with recognizing donors through unexpected gifts and creative outreach.
Other Duties
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

Every employee is trained in trauma-informed and strength-based approaches in order to connect with and build appropriate and encouraging relationships with survivors. WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is carried out primarily in an office setting with intermittent sitting, standing, walking, and some light physical activity. Most work is performed while sitting and using the computer, or phone and engaged in face-to-face conversation with staff and/or clients. Some car travel and the use of a personal vehicle are required. This position is a hybrid.
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:
- A bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Business, Communications, Marketing, or a similar field.
- Five or more years of experience, or the equivalent, in nonprofit development with a proven track record of managing donor portfolios, annual campaigns, or development activities is required.
- Relevant experience in stewardship, marketing, communications, and annual giving.
- Individuals with experience outside of nonprofits who have proven excellence in their respective career fields, and have demonstrated the ability to transfer those knowledge, skills, and abilities to the needs of a growing development team will be considered.
- Strong understanding of development strategies and practices.
- Excellent communication skills: strong writing, editing, and an interest in expressing and demonstrating impact, in video, phone, and in person.
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills with the ability to provide updates to leadership, interact with donors/prospects as needed, and be comfortable in leading meetings and facilitating conversation, internally and externally.
- Top-notch organizational and time management skills and the demonstrated ability to take initiative.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and adapt to ever-changing priorities.
- Creative brainstorming and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to gather information and relay it to actionable recommendations to build out detailed plans.
- Knowledge of and experience with donor database systems and/or CRM software is required.
- Experience working with high-net-worth or high-profile individuals.
- High attention to matters of discretion and confidentiality.
- Proficiency with Canva, Windows, and standard MS Office suite: Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
- Work as a team player in a small hybrid department.
- Some evening and weekend work, as needed.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Initial and subsequent random drug screening is required as per agency policy.
- A background check is required.
- Must be willing and able to embrace and exemplify our core values.
