Job Summary

Seeking highly qualified individuals with experience in education and youth development and a passion for helping today’s youth. Children Are People, Inc. serves at-risk students, in grades K-12.  The program provides tutoring in core subjects of Math, Science, and Language Arts. The program operates Monday through Thursday 2-6 p.m. This part-time teaching position will work with students to provide homework help, academic enrichment, character development, life skills, and more.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting students with homework
  • Providing directed lessons on subject areas as designated by the CAP curriculum
  • Documenting attendance
  • Help individual students or groups of students with homework and provide/teach curriculum to bring all students to grade level / exceed grade level.
  • Assist with the development of Individual Tutor Plans (ITP) for students.
  • Facilitate other activities as needed.

Expectations include:

  • Working collaboratively with other members of the teaching team and administration
  • Attending staff meetings and parent meetings
  • Maintaining professional boundaries at all times
  • Gathering and reporting on outcomes as requested by the administration
  • Other duties as assigned by the administration
  • Follow Children Are People’s policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • A degree would be preferred but not necessary.
  • Ability to be on time and prepared to perform classroom duties.
  • Must pass a background check including fingerprinting through the TBI.
