About the Role
Each employee at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee helps extend the agency’s mission in particular ways, as outlined in the position description. The essential functions of the position include but are not limited to the following:
The Development Coordinator is crucial in driving the agency’s mission by planning and executing fundraising and development events that generate significant impact and lasting engagement with our corporate and individual donors. Reporting to and working in close collaboration with the Director of Development, this individual will oversee and build upon a strategic agency event plan (ex. Annual Breakfast, HealthTrust Golf Tournament, Golf for Kids’ Sake, etc.). In this role, you’ll be responsible for overseeing all stages of event planning, from conception and budgeting to execution and post-event analysis. You’ll work closely with internal teams such as marketing and communications, as well as external partners, including vendors, corporate sponsors, and community volunteers to ensure each event aligns with our strategic goals and delivers an exceptional experience for attendees. The Development Coordinator will use Matchforce software to help with the management of donor information to ensure stewardship goals and accurate reporting. This position is also directly involved with donor cultivation, engagement, and stewardship. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, creative problem-solving abilities, and strong communication skills. The Development Coordinator is key to enhancing the organization’s visibility and outreach, driving donor engagement, and contributing to the overall success of our fundraising efforts.
Job Responsibilities
Day to day:
- Overseeing the agency event calendar, ensuring that identified development objectives are met. Coordinate with the Director of Development to expand event offerings
- Lead agency events from concept to completion, ensuring they operate smoothly, and efficiently, generating maximum revenue and exposure
- Act as the event’s main point of contact and information collector, coordinating with vendors, volunteers, and corporate sponsors to enhance event quality and secure necessary resources
- Collaborate with Marketing and Communications team members to create a marketing and communications strategy (social media, promotional materials, invitations, etc.) that ensures a successful turnout and engagement of attendees
- Ensure necessary information and needs are communicated (verbally and in writing) to all agency team members to ensure successful event execution and alignment with agency objectives
- Monitor and evaluate event outcomes, collect feedback, and provide comprehensive reports and recommendations for future events to improve effectiveness and efficiency
- Schedule and lead status meetings to ensure that events are on track for success
- Develop and implement strategies for donor retention and engagement, including outreach and stewardship activities
- Maintain and update the donor database, ensuring the accuracy and confidentiality of donor information. Track engagement and identify opportunities for growth.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the Advancement team to ensure the success of ongoing initiatives
- Participate in professional training as provided by the agency and the National office to achieve maximum development of professional skills when required
- Assist with agency priorities centered on resource development (relationships, resources, tools)

- Salesforce experience preferred

- Irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, are required to ensure the successful execution of events
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related field. Relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
- 2-5 years of successful experience in event management/planning, preferably in a nonprofit
- Experience in donor relations, fundraising, or a related area
