WHO WE ARE: Launched in February 2019 as the state’s first full-time innocence organization, the Tennessee Innocence Project (TIP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit law firm dedicated to freeing the wrongfully convicted across Tennessee. With offices in Nashville and Memphis, TIP works to investigate and litigate claims of actual innocence. To date, more than 3,400 people have lost over 31,000 years due to wrongful convictions in the United States.
Job Responsibilities

JOB TASKS:
Donor Relations:
- Assist in developing and implementing strategies to cultivate, solicit, and steward donors.
- Maintain accurate donor records and track interactions in the organization’s CRM.
- Prepare and send acknowledgment letters, donor correspondence, and other communications.
- Support the planning and execution of donor recognition programs and activities.
- Assist the COO in identifying and researching prospective donors.
- Help coordinate donor meetings, site visits, and other engagement opportunities.
- Manage donor call sheets for the executive leadership team, ensuring they have up-to-date information for donor interactions.
Events:
- Assist in planning and executing fundraising and cultivation events, including logistics, vendor management, and guest communications.
- Coordinate event marketing and promotion, including creating event materials and managing social media content.
- Support event registration, check-in processes, and on-site event management.
- Track event expenses and assist in budget management.
- Ensure timely follow-up with event attendees, including thank-you notes and post-event surveys.
Administrative:
- Provide administrative support to the COO and development team, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and taking minutes.
- Assist with grant applications, proposals, and reports as needed.
- Maintain positive relationships with staff, volunteers, and stakeholders.
- Participate in staff meetings and other organizational activities.
- Execute other responsibilities as requested by the COO.
Qualifications
- 2 – 3 years of experience in donor relations, event planning, or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field preferred.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with CRM software.
- Experience in the nonprofit sector is a plus.

Location: The position is based in Nashville. As a statewide organization, some travel may be required.
