Project Return helps people who are coming back from prison. Our mission is to provide services and connect people with resources needed to return successfully to work and community after incarceration. For over four decades, Project Return has done the work of reentry in Nashville, facilitating job search, job placement, and job retention, as well as providing wraparound intensive case management and a broad array of assistance and support, for people who come to Project Return with the determination to make a new beginning after incarceration. Project Return opened its second location in Chattanooga, TN in 2021.
Position Description
This position is responsible for coordinating and implementing all community outreach and in-prison efforts. The purpose of this role is to maximize pre-release and post-release awareness of Project Return’s services in Tennessee. This person will maintain regular communication with halfway houses, community partners, jails, and prisons statewide, scheduling regular visits to present on the services offered at Project Return. As part of a new grant initiative with the Department of Justice, this position will assist in the facilitation of our Job Readiness curriculum inside state facilities. This position is based out of the Nashville office.
Job Responsibilities
The following requirements are representative, but not all-inclusive, of the job functions for this role:
- Lead all communication efforts with staff at incarceration facilities
- Work alongside the program director to maintain ongoing relationships between transitional housing and community partners as part of recruitment activities for Project Return
- Manage in-reach and outreach schedule; scheduling regular visits and attending or coordinating with staff to attend presentations, classes, and resource fairs
- Represent Project Return at various in-prison and outreach events
- Respond to all incoming mail from prospective participants at incarceration facilities
- Facilitate Project Return’s Job Readiness curriculum at designated facilities
- Maintain data entry for facility visits and contacts
- Facilitate office orientations for new participants when available
- Consult with current participants providing services and referrals as needed
- Provide input and assistance as needed in reporting efforts for the agency
- Other duties as needed or as determined by the work of the agency
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
- Incredibly organized, excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to build strong relationships
- Experience/ability to teach classes of up to 30 people
- Strong attention to detail and quality of work
- Local and overnight travel to facilities required (30-50%)
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and ability to pass MVR requirements for company vehicle use
