Nashville CARES is seeking candidates with a diversity of work and life experience to provide individual, couples, and group counseling to people living with HIV, with a focus on BIPOC same-gender-loving men. The ideal candidate will have prior experience providing mental health services to BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA+ individuals and groups and operate from a trauma-informed lens. Job Responsibilities

What you’ll do:

  • Provide a full range of mental health and substance use services to clients on-site, off-site, and via telehealth to include: screening, assessment, treatment planning, counseling, group facilitation, crisis intervention, and professional consultation;
  • Facilitate groups to support and address the needs of BIPOC, same-gender loving clients;
  • Collaborate with all CARES programs as needed to ensure all BIPOC, same-gender loving communities feel welcomed, accepted, and have equally unfettered access to programs and services;
  • Prepare and maintain necessary client records and reports in accordance with licensing and accreditation standards and agency policies/procedures;
  • Provide services consistent with a community counseling model, including education/prevention, outreach, advocacy, and consultation;
  • Participate in benefit authorization, utilization review, and/or chart audit process, as requested,;
  • Participate in weekly individual and group clinical supervision;
  • Function as a member of an interdisciplinary team to serve clients individually and across departments;
  • Maintain work consistent with quality standards established by the agency and in compliance with state licensure and funding requirements.

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or other Behavioral Science field;
  • State of Tennessee unencumbered licensure as LCSW, LMSW seeking clinical licensure, LMFT, LPC – or license eligible within first 90 days of employment;
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical or relevant experience;
  • Ability to relate in a non-judgmental and respectful manner to gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender communities of color;
  • Desire to work with BIPOC & LGBTQIA+ populations; desire to work with persons living with HIV; desire to work in community mental health with clients who have a high prevalence of mental illness, trauma, and substance use;
  • Experience working with populations diverse in race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, etc;
  • Valid Tennessee Driver’s License, vehicle, and automobile liability insurance to facilitate local travel required for client/agency-related business.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Personal history as a consumer of services for BIPOC and/or same-gender-loving persons;
  • Four years of clinical or social service experience relating to: HIV/AIDS, co-occurring disorders, substance use, sexual identity issues, grief/loss, trauma, or crisis intervention;
  • Experience with telehealth behavioral health platforms;
  • Experience, as a clinician, interfacing with insurance companies;
  • Bi-lingual abilities preferred.
