Summary:
Provide leadership to the Admissions staff and oversee the referral and lead process. Set the tone and example of compassion, empathy, efficiency, and a sense of urgency in the department.
Job Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities include the following:
Business Development:
- Work with admissions staff to promote and maintain relationships between the facility and the outside community.
- Develop strategies and work with referring organizations and the Admissions team to maximize admissions of clients requiring care.
- Responsible for creating and maintaining relationships with healthcare providers and community partners for The Next Door Recovery’s inpatient and outpatient addiction and mental health treatment services.
- Establish and maintain a sense of urgency; able to negotiate and remove barriers for team members and patients.
- Works collaboratively with other Directors to communicate needs in the community and discuss policies and processes related to referral processes
- Attend industry functions, association events, and conferences to network and increase brand awareness while building relationships that will generate new leads and opportunities.
- Review all medical records from referring hospitals and organizations and consult with the Medical Director or Clinical Director when applicable.
- Account Management ~ manage and collaborate with TNDR staff to resolve referral source concerns or issues during the referral, admissions, and treatment process.
- Develop tracking and reporting for referral sources and actual admissions into any level of care within TNDR services in order to measure outcomes of business strategy and trends in services.
Admission Process:
- Works with the admissions team to oversee operations from initial client contacts through admission.
- Proficient at creating and supporting systems that maximize workflow for the department.
- Provide oversight and training to staff on assessing prospective patients for treatment, and identifying psychosocial, mental health, and medical issues.
- Works with the admissions team to set goals for the department and creates performance improvement plans for deficiencies.
- Work in collaboration with other Directors, Managers, and departments to ensure cohesiveness and a seamless admission process.
- Establish admissions operational strategies by evaluating trends; establishing critical measurements; determining production, productivity, quality, and patient-service strategies; designing systems; accumulating resources; resolving problems; and implementing change.
- Enhance patient care delivery system by fostering admissions function interface with the nursing, medical staff, and other professional staff, including the clinical team, developing and implementing bed reservations, financial, reimbursement, and other supporting systems.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in health care administration, business management, social work, counseling, and/or RN License required.
- At least 3 years experience in the health care industry preferably in leadership.
- Experience working directly with clients with substance abuse and mental illness is required.
- Experience in managing an Intake/Admissions team is preferred.
Other Requirements:
- Possess proficient computer skills in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Proficient in data analytics and forecasting.
- Valid Driver’s license.
