Job Summary
Consistent with the Christian mission and vision of the YMCA of Middle TN, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the Y-Quest Specialist, the Y-Quest Coordinator is responsible for the administration, operation, and success of the middle school programming in Davidson County. Y-CAP’s Middle School Program (Y-Quest) offers a fun, welcoming space after school Monday through Thursday. Students learn the skills, knowledge, and mindsets they need to handle strong emotions, better understand and connect with their peers, and avoid and resolve conflicts. S/he will assist with the development of quality programs and provide supervision and guidance to program staff to ensure all specific duties are carried out successfully. S/he will serve as a positive role model while assisting in maintaining community relations, expense control, and participant outcomes.
Job Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Ensure the safety of all children at all times; know, understand, train & execute all program policies & emergency procedures associated with/ the program
- Facilitate and oversee Y-CAP after school, summer camp programming, and staffing, implement curriculum; ensure all program schedules are completed satisfactorily in a timely manner; comply with the program schedule, arriving to work daily on time and working as a flexible team player
- Ensure that each site is staffed to meet the grant requirements for employee-to-child ratio by recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training staff.
- Develop and maintain partnerships within the community, including with but not limited to: Metro Nashville Public Schools, Nashville After School Alliance, and Enhancement Partners
- Attend all NAZA required meetings and trainings
- Lead and engage a group of children in activities either inside or outside program areas and during transition times
- Coordinate service learning opportunities
- Build relationships with parents in order to be a resource and support system communicate with parents and address parent concerns in a timely manner
- Track Y-CAP attendance, intake forms, and report data through online data management software, Salesforce, and Apricot
- Coordinate transportation for students if needed
- Assist with the various administrative tasks, coordinate payroll process, and complete all necessary reports; take inventory of and help purchase necessary supplies
- Actively participate in the Annual Giving Campaign/center fundraising events to raise awareness and ongoing financial support for YCAP and outreach programs
- Coordinate volunteers to assist in program lessons, meal programs, and outreach events
- Continued development for Standard Operating Procedures
- Communicate programmatic events, schedules, and offerings to Y-CAP staff
- Carry out special projects and events as assigned by leadership
Qualifications
- Passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA
- An enthusiastic personality with the desire to serve members, volunteers, guests, participants, and staff to create a culture of service within our programs
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
- Must present a professional image possess conflict resolution skills, and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative
- Experience implementing an SEL curriculum preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software programs, as well as the ability to use most office equipment, is required
- Experience working with school-aged students
- Must be highly organized with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
- Skilled in problem-solving and able to take initiative
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Experience working with school-aged students
- Valid Driver’s License
- Able to travel to offsite program locations
- Ability to inspire and motivate staff members.
- Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills
- F Endorsement (preferred)
Education Requirements (at least one of the following):
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with 1 year of experience in youth development
- Bachelor’s Degree in an unrelated field with 2 years of experience in youth development
- High School Diploma with 4 years of experience in youth development
Certifications Required Post-Hire:
- Before the start of 1st shift: New Hire Orientation training
- Within 30 days of hire: CPR Pro/ First Aid/ AED
- Within six months of hire: Complete course training and Certify in Adult Mental Health First Aid USA from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing
- Must maintain annual training requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand; walk on uneven surfaces; sit; handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. The employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level is usually minimal to moderate.
