Dallas CASA is a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children assigned to the Dallas County Courts due to abuse or neglect. Our mission is to protect children, restore childhoods, and help child victims of abuse and neglect achieve their full potential.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Development Specialist 

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY

Development Specialist will provide oversight and leadership to Dallas CASA’s fundraising database as well as manage all invitation, membership, and solicitation mailings.  In addition, he or she will be responsible for all development reporting and analysis and serve as a key advisor in the areas of gift acceptance policies and the gifts and records program. The Development Specialist also serves as the liaison for the Young Professionals, helping to direct and guide the work of this auxiliary group.

Job Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Primary person responsible for donor records, processing gifts, reconciling accounts in Raiser’s Edge, and sending notices to donors of upcoming pledge payment deadlines.
  • Primary person responsible for the Development of income tools and systems.
  • Process gifts and pledges daily as well as ensure that gift receipts are issued within three days of receipt of gifts.
  • Responsible for the management of all aspects of Development data including prospect records, gift compliance, and Raiser’s Edge accuracy.
  • Prepares all development reports for the Dallas CASA Development Committee/CDO.
  • Serves as the chief liaison to Dallas CASA’s Finance Department. Responsible for reconciliation processes between Finance and Development.
  • Implement and manage all key systems including coordination with mail, print, and out-sourced companies in the area of solicitations and mailings utilizing Raiser’s Edge.
  • Assist the Donor Relations Manager with the execution of the year-end appeal.
  • Participates in planning meetings, and coordinates receipt and tracking of all sponsorships, donations, and pledges for the Dallas CASA Classic Golf Tournament.
  • Serves as the liaison for the Young Professionals, helping to direct and guide the work of this auxiliary group.
  • Work with the Event Manager and CDO to coordinate and execute YP fundraising events.
  • Provide additional support for the Development Department as needed to include meeting coordination and preparation of materials.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • Assist the Chief Development Officer with budget management and progress reports (dollars raised to meet budget goals).
  • Assist Human Resources with processing benefit premium payments for employees on leave of absence
  • Assist with and attend special events
  • In accordance with the Dallas CASA team philosophy, the incumbent may occasionally be required to carry out or assist with other tasks in addition to the duties listed in this job description.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Participate in programs of public recognition for volunteer advocates.

TRAVEL

This position may require some travel. Must have reliable transportation with a current valid Texas driver’s license and state-mandated automobile insurance for travel to and from meetings and presentations.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS 

  • Must have proven skills in Raiser’s Edge software.
  • Bachelor’s degree OR relevant working experience in the nonprofit field.
  • Proficiency in the following: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain organizations in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Impeccable organizational and communication skills, including a positive, professional attitude and demeanor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position has no direct supervisory responsibility 

CONTRACTING AUTHORITY

None.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • This would require the ability to lift 20 pounds minimum for lifting files and office supplies, open filing cabinets, and transport materials to and from meetings, presentations, and other locations as needed. 
  • Intermittent physical activities including driving, bending, reaching, sitting, and walking during working hours. 

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week.  Normal office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.  The Dallas CASA Employee Handbook contains a description of the current remote working program, including eligibility criteria.
