Nashville Rescue Mission is actively seeking a Donor Relations Officer to join our Development Team.  This position will develop strategies and build relationships to secure major gifts and work with other donors/prospects as assigned. Uphold the Mission Statement of Faith and Code of Conduct.

Job Responsibilities

 Essential Duties:

  • Actively manages key relationships with donors to sustain and upgrade a gift level of $2500 and above.
  • Supports the fundraising and financial development goals of the Mission by giving tours as needed.
  • Works with the Vice President of Development to thank, cultivate, and solicit targeted donors.
  • Participates in speaking engagements as needed to promote the Nashville Rescue Mission.
  • Participates in regular meetings of the Development Team.
  • Prepares reports for the Vice President of Development as requested.

 Other Duties:                       

  • Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor.

 Performance Standards:

  • Meets or exceeds budgetary objectives through assigned major gifts and other donors.
  • Individual record keeping is accurate and notes are placed in major gift donor records.
  • Participates in the development of the annual strategic plan for the department.
  • Manages personal time effectively by focusing on the most important goals each month.
  • Supports the Mission Statement and Values of Nashville Rescue Mission.
  • Supports, cooperates with, and implements specific procedures and programs for the Nashville Rescue Mission.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all donor information as well as resident, employee, and operations data.
  • Adheres to the standards as set forth by Citygate and ECFA.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in communications, marketing, public relations, or related discipline required or 8 years of equivalent experience with a nonprofit.  
  • 3 – 5 years experience with a proven track record in successfully cultivating and stewarding new and existing donors and soliciting gifts.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of relational databases, Raiser’s Edge and iWave preferred.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and public presentation skills.
  • Must possess computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. 
  • Ability to qualify as a Designated Mission Vehicle Driver under NRM insurance policy:
    • Valid driver’s license
    • Have no more than two moving violations in a 3-year period or more than one accident in a 1-year period
    • Proof of insurance on personal vehicle (current)

 Physical Factors:

  • Regularly include standing, walking, reaching, lifting, bending, kneeling, stooping, sitting, pushing and pulling, lifting up to 30 pounds or less, and climbing stairs.
  • Regularly include typing/computer usage and speaking skills.
  • Regularly include moderate reading and writing skills; proficient interpersonal relations and communication skills; manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
  • Driving to/from meetings with potential and existing donors.

Retirement

Let us help you save for the future. Nashville Rescue Mission contributes 3% of an employee’s earnings after they have completed their first year of service. If you decide to contribute to the plan as well, you will enjoy a 50% match on contributions from 1% to 6%.
