Make an Impact as a Donor Relations Manager

The Donor Relations Manager is responsible for contributing to the organization’s overall fundraising goals, meticulously cultivating, stewarding, and managing donor relationships, and helping manage the overall donor portfolio, including individuals, corporations, and foundations. The Manager will collaborate to provide support to the leadership team in various individual fundraising activities. The Donor Relations Manager will demonstrate multitasking, communication, and research skills, and the ability to adapt to dynamic environments. The successful candidate is a self-starter who excels in organization and self-motivation and takes the initiative to contribute to the overall success of our mission and foster lasting connections with donors.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions 

  • Responsible for helping cultivate, develop, and steward donor relationships
  • Collaborate closely with the Philanthropy & Communications team to support departmental goals and attend all organizational development activities.
  • Effectively communicate with donors and potential donors, articulating the impactful outcomes of their support.
  • Maintain precise and comprehensive records of all donor communications.
  • Develop and execute Planned Giving activities and recognition for individuals who have included the organization in their estate plans.
  • Manage the donor relationship management database, including updating records, compiling biographical information, data entry, and generating queries/reports.
  • Process incoming gifts, ensuring accurate recording and timely acknowledgment.
  • Coordinate donor mailings, including direct mail appeals.
  • Track pledges and monthly gifts to ensure timely payments.
  • Analyze donor-giving patterns to optimize retention, upgrading, and conversion rates.
  • Assist with individual donor stewardship through acknowledgment letters, thank you cards, donor appreciation gifts, and communication via phone and email.
  • Contribute to the preparation of the annual report and other donor-related reports as needed.
  • Assist in the coordination of fundraising and volunteer events.
  • Conduct research on donor prospects and explore acquisition strategies to expand the donor base.

Qualifications

Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in a nonprofit or academic institution, preferably with a focus on development
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Effective at multitasking and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, fostering confidence among colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Exhibit strong writing skills, encompassing proficiency in proofreading and content editing
  • Ethical standards, discretion, and confidentiality in handling donor information.
  • Possess a working knowledge of CRM database 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and online meeting platforms such as Zoom and Teams
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Travel and Compliance 

  • Must have a valid driver’s license if applicable 
  • Driving record must comply with CCG’s automobile insurance carrier requirements 
  • Must have liability insurance coverage and reliable personal transportation  
  • Ability to travel locally or out of town as required 
  • Mileage reimbursement is offered when applicable 
  • Must submit to and successfully pass all required CCG and Partner Program background checks throughout employment. These include FBI, Fingerprinting, Neglect and Abuse, and Federal, State, Local, and Sex Offender background checks. Background check requirements may be expanded at the discretion of CCG and Partner Programs 

Physical Demands 

  • Work requires normal physical effort with minimal lifting requirements for items weighing less than 50 pounds
