Job Summary

The Kids and Student Director will directly supervise our Elementary Programming Coordinator and our Middle School Programming and High School Mentorship Coordinator to ensure that both programs work together to cohesively serve the kids and teens in our communities of service. The perfect candidate for this job is passionate about seeing children from hard places succeed. This person needs to be a go-getter; a self-starter with an incredible work ethic and time management skills. This person will also be a team player and people-oriented person, ready to build meaningful relationships with the Kids and Students team and the families served by our programs. The Kids and Student Director should have previous experience leading teams, delegating responsibilities, ensuring projects are being carried to completion, and be comfortable with having hard conversations when needed.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work alongside Elementary and Middle School Program Coordinators in their efforts to recruit, train, and schedule all volunteers, tutors, contract staff, and Fine Arts professionals
  • Ensure that both program coordinators are collecting all required data and documentation for grant funders, and work closely with the Development Director to ensure on-time submission of required documents 
  • Develop curriculum plan and schedule with Elementary and Middle School Program Coordinators; research suitable curriculum or develop our own if necessary
  • Act as liaison between Program Coordinators and partner schools, both formal (Pencil Partner) and informal partnerships

Responsibilities to the Team:

  • Conduct yourself in a manner consistent with our statement of faith and our staff values 
  • Attend staff meetings, Program Team meetings, and maintain regular office hours 
  • Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure volunteer needs are met and program details are clear and concise 
  • Meet with the Elementary Programming Coordinator  and Middle School Programming and High School Mentorship Coordinator weekly to discuss program updates and needs; ensure that both coordinators have a solid understanding of the curriculum and schedules that need to be executed
  • Use team databases to collect and store information on volunteers and opportunities

  • Possesses solid administrative skills, can stay organized and on top of the needs of multiple programs
  • Strong in multi-tasking, executing events, and developing strategies; all with attention to detail
  • Maintains grace and poise under pressure; remains teachable and adaptable to new situations
