Job Summary
The Groundskeeper will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and attractiveness of our outdoor spaces which include 3 commercial and 26 residential properties. This position is a member of the Maintenance team, working directly with the Regional Property Manager and the Maintenance Supervisor. This role is crucial in providing a welcoming environment for our members, residents, staff, and visitors.
Job Responsibilities
- Take pride in the properties, ensuring they always look their best.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as mowing, watering, mulching, pruning, fertilizing, weeding, and trimming shrubs and trees to keep the grounds tidy and attractive.
- Monitor the health of plants and trees and take appropriate measures to address diseases, pests, or other issues.
- Apply snow/ice melt products and/or snow removal when necessary.
- Manage landscaping projects, including planting flowers, bushes, and trees to enhance the aesthetics of the grounds.
- Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment such as lawnmowers, trimmers, blowers, and irrigation systems.
- Maintain cleanliness by sweeping walkways, removing litter, and emptying trash bins regularly.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations while performing duties.
- Collaborate with other staff members and volunteers to coordinate groundskeeping activities and special events.
- Keep records of maintenance activities, inventory, and supplies.
- Inspect and repair outdoor structures, fences, benches, and other amenities as needed.
- Report major maintenance issues to the Regional Property Manager
- Perform general maintenance tasks to support Property Management as needed.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must have a valid Driver’s license and will be required to drive to multiple locations.
- Proven experience in groundskeeping or landscaping, preferably in a non-profit or similar setting.
- Knowledge of horticulture, plant care, and landscaping techniques.
- Ability to operate groundskeeping equipment safely and effectively.
- Good physical condition with the ability to lift heavy objects, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
Physical/Mental demands:
Prolonged walking or standing, repeated stooping, squatting, stretching, requiring a full range of body movements. Requires eye and hand coordination in utilizing equipment and tools. Frequent lifting and carrying materials up to 50 pounds.
