Job Summary
Cool Kids Campaign is expanding into Nashville, Tennessee, and seeking an experienced Managing Director to grow our presence. Initially, this position will be responsible for developing and growing relationships with families, constituents, and donors with the goal of constructing a clubhouse within 18 months. Once the Clubhouse is operating, the Managing Director will manage its staff which will consist of an event coordinator and a family and program coordinator. The successful candidate has the ability to develop relationships with hospitals, Cool Kids families, donors, and other partners. We are looking for a mission-focused leader and self-starter who embodies “The Cool Kids Way” by positively influencing our mission and growing our presence in Tennessee. Experience in building and implementing family programs and a proven track record in successful fundraising is required.
ABOUT THE US COOL KIDS CAMPAIGN:
Cool Kids Campaign Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, is devoted to improving the quality of life for pediatric oncology patients and their families by focusing on the academic, social, and emotional needs brought on by a cancer diagnosis. GENERAL DESCRIPTION::
Cool Kids currently maintains Clubhouses in Towson, Maryland, and Huntersville, North Carolina. This position is responsible for significantly growing the number of families we serve, specifically in the Nashville area, and building new donor relationships. The Managing Director reports directly to the President and Executive Director. The Managing Director will develop and lead the planning and execution of local family programming, fundraising efforts, and related organizational events. The successful candidate will develop creative ways to increase participation and raise public awareness of our organization. The Managing Director must exemplify a high standard of leadership for all employees.
Job Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Family Programing:
This position will be responsible for growing the number of families we serve in Tennessee, with its major focus on the Nashville area. The Managing Director will:
• Create relationships with local hospitals and nonprofit organizations to gain family referrals
• Create and implement in-hospital programming for children treated for cancer and their families
• Create parent support groups
• Increase participation in our free tutoring service
• Create and implement programs outside of the hospital for childhood cancer patients, survivors, and their families
• Specific growth goals will be assigned
Fundraising and Awareness Raising:
The Managing Director will be assigned a fundraising goal which will be achieved by focusing on:
Donor Relations:
The Managing Director will work with the Advisory Board to identify potential donors and develop those relationships.
Events:
This individual will lead the planning and execution of annual, third party and peer-to-peer fundraising events. Including but not limited to project planning, budgeting, procuring sponsors and auction items, event logistics, negotiating vendor contracts, social media, inventory, and volunteers, etc..
Grant Writing and Community Relations:
• Directly seeks opportunities for funding through local corporations, foundations, and routine grant writing
• Working with Advisory Board to develop new fundraising opportunities and events
Future – General Business & Facility Operations:
• Once the Clubhouse is open, the Managing Director works directly with the Executive Director to determine supply needs, event inventory, basic accounting, maintenance outsourcing, and other needs related to running an office and managing staff.
• Guide the Advisory Board in their outreach and development efforts to advance Cool Kids’ mission
Qualifications
Required & Preferred Experience:
• Minimum 3 years of leadership experience at the Director or comparable level.
• Strong management and team-building skills
• Proven fundraising success.
• Ability to adapt communication style to diverse audiences (families, corporate sponsors. foundations, children, etc.)
• Must be highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks.
• Detail-oriented and strong ability to lead and follow up is required
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision or direction
• Strong analytic, writing, and editing skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite products (excel, word, PowerPoint, etc.)
