Job Summary
Consistent with the Christian mission and vision of the YMCA of Middle TN, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the School Age Site Director, the Assistant Site Director is responsible for planning and implementing activities and executing daily lesson plans for the School Age Before and After School sites. The Assistant Site Director will work with other site staff to foster children’s social, physical, spiritual, and mental growth.
Job Responsibilities

- During site hours assume responsibility for the site as directed by/in the absence of the Site Director, including supervision of Site Assistants and Special Needs Assistants
- Responsible for parent communication, and record-keeping in the absence of the Site Director
- Set up and take down program space so that the area is transformed into a child-friendly environment; this includes moving, cleaning, picking up, and putting back furniture and equipment ensuring program space is left in an organized fashion
- Ensure the safety of all children at all times including roll taking and counting of participants; maintain daily record keeping and adhere to all guidelines
- Actively lead and engage a group of 15 to 20 (DHS maximum is 20) children in activities outlined by the Site Director either inside or outside program areas and during transition times
- Attend all staff meetings and in-service training as required by the program staff
- Assist the Area Director in controlling and maintaining supplies and inventory on-site
- Maintaining licensing standards at the School Age site to ensure the maintenance of all quality standards; assisting in maintaining citywide policies and procedures
- Maintain positive relationships with YMCA personnel administration and school staff
- Participate in YMCA volunteer programs and the annual giving campaign

Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
- Must present a professional image possess conflict resolution skills, and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative
- Must be highly organized with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
- Minimum 21 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent recognized by state law: In addition to at least four (4) years of full-time documented work experience with children in a group setting and 30 hours of TECTA (can be obtained after hire)
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university and 1-year full-time experience with children in a group setting
- 36 credit hours of college course work in business management, child or youth development, early childhood education, or closely related field, or shall have earned a Department-recognized credential (TECTA or CDA) and (2) years of full-time documented work experience with children in a group setting.

Before the start of 1st shift:
- New Hire Orientation Training
- DHS Background Disclosure Form & Fingerprint Appointment
- Abuse Registry Check
- DHS Physical Health Form
- Proof of Education
- Completed references report & past employment reference
- Required DHS Training
- Pre-service training
Within 30 days of hire:
- CPR Pro/First Aid/AED (Infant/Pediatric)
Must maintain annual training requirements
